One Woman's Writing Retreat

Ann Mohin

By Nicola Warwick

Ann Mohin, author of The Farm She Was, has a yen for 1950s France and is embroiled in a love affair with Phil. ("Phil" is an anthropomorphic RV and an idyllic place to work--without interruption. Please can I have one?)

An old hand at writing--she was first published in the third grade--Ann has contributed poetry and short stories to literary magazines, as well as a number of travel articles and essays.

In 1980 Ann and her husband moved from Washington DC (where she edited in-house trade publications) to an upstate New York town where the two of them renovated an 1845 farmhouse and began to raise sheep. Ann also became something of a jet setter, globe trotting to England, France, Italy, Holland, Malaysia, Singapore, Mexico, Canada and all over the US, thanks to her hubby’s job.

Later they sold the sheep ("baa baa sheep") and Ann concentrated on writing The Farm She Was. Not only was it a dream come true to see The Farm She Was in print (and on the Top 10 bestseller list), Ann’s book is now also being made into a film.

Now it’s back to "the good life" on the farm where Ann and her husband live with three dogs and several cats and are planning to get more livestock.

A second book Tractorland is in progress with third, fourth, and fifth books in the pipeline.

Remember the name: this is a woman to watch.
