One Woman's Writing Retreat: Jillian Leslie |
Guest Columnist
About Jillian Leslie
Jillian Leslie is a freelance magazine writer and a novelist (with a dash of playwright) in progress.
She attended the University of Illinois in the days
when flowers had power. Over the years she's held a variety of jobs, but
her favorite gig took place at the Anti-Cruelty Society of Chicago, where
she coordinated the education/publications department and taught humane
education all over Chicago and the Metro area. She also was one of the
pioneers of one of the first pet therapy programs in the Midwest. Jillian
also adored tutoring English-as-a-second language for Portland Community
College in Portland, Oregon.
A Boomer bloomer, she didn't start writing for publication until 1992. Her articles have appeared in Family Circle Magazine, Bed and Breakfast Journal, Oregon Coast Magazine, Oregon Parks Magazine and Northwest Travel Magazine. She created a newsletter for Sea Quest Bed and Breakfast, in Yachats, Oregon and periodically does their public relations work. When they amass their recipes, she promises to write their cookbook.
Jillian and her husband, Paul, have been married more than 27 years. They adopted the gorgeous state of Oregon as their own in 1986. They now live in Sherwood, Oregon with their loving Shetland sheepdog, Rudy; older than Methuselah cockatiel, Howie Birdell; blue and red Betta, Confufish, and red betta, Fish Frye.
Though Jillian is no longer an active columnist at the Retreat, she often writes guest articles. Jillian has been a close friend and supporter of the webmaster since 1998. If you are challenged by health issues, or know of anyone who suffers from chronic illness, be sure to visit her site Everyday Warriors.
