One Daughter's Journey

by Catherine Tudor, continued 3

InscriptionWhen my father died, the author William Golding was staying at the same hotel as my mother in Seville, Spain. He gave her a copy of Lord of the Flies which she cherished for twenty years, then passed down to me. The inscription reads, "With our deepest, though helpless sympathy: and the hope that sometime she will come back to happiness."

My mother did find happiness when she met and married her second husband, JJ.

For more information about the author see the biography on William Golding at the Nobel Prize site.
