Dedication, 1997
I dedicate this site to my mother, Patricia, who was born
in 1920 and died unexpectedly in Texas in the spring of 1997. A devoted mother, grandmother, wife, and sister, Patricia loved the arts and was a talented craftswoman and portrait artist. She survived sending a husband off to World War II, took care of my great-grandmother for 14 years while raising a family, suffered through her own mother's struggle with Parkinson's, then became a widow too early when my father died of a heart attack while on vacation in Spain 20 years ago. Luckily she met another wonderful man, remarried, and the two of them enjoyed living near the Gulf of Mexico after his retirement. Mother gave me her passion for reading and encouraged me to write. She had a generous spirit with a gift for healing animals and nurturing plants. Many loved her and the one trait her friends said that they admired about her most, was that they never heard her say a bad word about anyone. If you know someone who has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer, or if you are a woman and want to know your risk factors for acquiring this disease, you may want to check out the National Coalition for Ovarian Cancer site. Our thanks to the doctors and nurses in Harlingen, Texas who
tried so hard to save her life, and to all those who comforted the
family in our time of need. We miss her and will always hold her
memory close to our hearts. One Daughter's Journey . . . |
